SOLD - Waltham ST 1686
Iterum builds new watches from vintage mechanical watch movements. This watch using a Waltham ST 1686 movement is available for purchase.
This Waltham movement is the caliber ST 1686. The balance has shock protection. Cap jewels can be found on the top and bottom of the escape wheel and on the bottom of the third wheel. These movements were produced around 1960.
The minute and hour hands are new old stock. The lume was old and brittle so the old luminous paint was removed and fresh lume was applied. The second hand is new.

The wheels of the going train are a gray color instead of the more common brass color. The caliber mark seen here is ST 1686. At this time Standard Time (ST) was owned by A Schild (AS) and these movements can be found with either the ST 1868 or AS 1686 caliber marks.
The color of the minute and hour hands under normal light closely matches the color of the dial. The hands glow green in the dark.
Protecting the balance pivots from damage by shock is done using three thin arms off of the top balance jewel. A similar shock protection mechanism is used on the dial side of the movement.
