Arbaco AS 1194
Iterum builds new watches from vintage mechanical watch movements. This watch using an Arbaco AS 1194 movement is available for purchase.
This watch was produced for the Arbaco Watch Company and is a caliber AS 1194. The shock protection mechanism for the balance jewels is the popular Incabloc. The escape wheel has top and bottom cap jewels. The third wheel has a bottom cap jewel. These movements were produced around 1945 and were used in many military watches of the time.
Winding: Manual wind
Country of origin: Switzerland
Caliber: AS 1194
On the bottom side of the plate we find a few markings. The "AS" brand is for the A. Schild company. A. Schild made the movement and then Arbaco used the movement in a watch with its own branding. "1187 1194" is the movement caliber. "Brevet Dep." is short for Brevet Depose which is French for Patent Filed.
The barrel bridge contains the text "UNADJUSTED" meaning that at production time the movement wasn't adjusted for temperature, isochronism, and multiple positions which is normally only done for expensive, high-end movements. Before shipping, the movement would have gone through minimum adjusting to make sure that it ran within specifications. Visible on the barrel bridge in the picture below is the text "SWISS" which indicates the movement was produced in Switzerland.
